Seeing through...

"You can see better when there are no leaves on the trees." My oldest daughter makes this observation early one cold morning on the way to school. And it's true. In winter, when the leaves are all gone, skies are gray for months, and there seems to be nothing but a lifeless world full of cold and gloom....if you look across the horizon you can see things that weren't visible when things were lush and full of life. In the winter barrenness you can see through the limbs of the trees to things you couldn't see in the other seasons. So is true in life. Sometimes we go through cold, barren, lonely seasons in life, but God always has a plan to show us something through these difficulties that we couldn't see before. In these dreary, difficult seasons of pain, heartache, loneliness, anger, frustration, lostness....sometimes all we see are the leafless trees. Barren, lifeless, cold. Sometimes we miss the path that is now visible through the barren limbs, because all we can see is the ugly tree. We are focusing on the bad, instead on what is beyond. God knows sometimes it's just too hard. But it is still there for us to see, the path beyond the tree, and in our time, when the right moment comes we will see it.

Sometimes these seasons come just so you find your strength, a strength and wisdom you never knew you had, because God knows you'll need it for the next storm, the next mountain. And sometimes they come so you help others. He knows what is inside of you, how you'll grow and how much you can help the world once you make it through. So don't give up, keep looking, you'll find that path and it will lead to great things; most of all the knowledge of how very much God loves you. He is everything you need, in every situation....so just keep looking.
